Freak for All - July Control Freaks Blog Tour

Welcome to my first Control Freak Blog Tour.  I've been a Control Freak for many years but just got into the blogging world.  This month the Freaks are sharing  ideas from the new catalog, Holiday Mini and Convention swaps.  You should have just come from the blog of LeeAnn Greff.

My first card was inspired by my friend Lisa Horton.  I saw her card and had to make a really country Bootiful Occasions card.  All of the embossed card stock is sponged to help bring out the wonderful texture on this card.  It looks like embossed leather...and what a wonderful use of the Petite Pennants Builder punch.

Sewing/Seamstress Jewelry Piece

This is my latest Rubber Ducky creation.  July is Pat's birthday month and she selected a Sewing/Seamstress theme.  Pat is a very talented seamstress as well as stamper.  I can't imagine creating a beautiful wedding dress....well, for me curtains would be a big deal.  :)   It took a while to come up with my idea but thankfully it did happen.  :)

I started this jewelry piece with a Tim Holtz Ornate Plate. The pin cushion was made using a piece of fabric...and stuffed it with a small cotton ball.  Next I placed three Swarovski Crystal  beads on a pin and inserted this into the cushion.

Stamp Set:  Rue de Fleurs  [retired]
Fabric:  Beau Chateau
CS:  Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Marina Mist
Embosslit:  Beautiful Wings [smallest butterfly]
Punches:  Large Oval, Scallop Oval, 1/16" Handheld Circle
Miscellaneous:  Scissors and Thimble Charms added to the sides of the plate to dangle
   * Tiny wood spool [I wrapped blue sparkly crochet thread around it]
   * Pink Button with Gold colored center
   * Two luminescent beads [1 blue and 1 pink]
   * Memory Box die was used to make the  flowers to add to the corset.  I took a 1/16" circle
punch to add blue centers to each flower...then added Dazzling Details to the centers
   * Red Line Tape placed on the front of butterfly and butterfly cut out by hand the second
time...then added Dazzling Diamonds and a small Rhinestone Jewel to the center of
          the butterfly.

Ta Dahhh!!!!!  a finished piece.  :)

Reinker Spread Technique

I received this card recently from my friend, Crystal French.  She was the originator of the Reinker Spread Technique.  My upline and friend, Connie Ingram, demoed thiswonderful  technique at a Stampin' Up! event several years ago and it went crazy after that.  It is such a wonderful idea.
If you haven't tried it, do!  You will be glad you did.  I know the Stamp Set, Designer Paper and Ribbon are retired....but this card was too pretty not to share!!!!  :)

"Yellow Roses" Jewelry Piece

This "Yellow Roses" Jewelry Piece was created for my friend, Nicole, for her birthday.  Her birthday theme is Yellow Roses and I know she loves vintage...so had fun creating this especially for her.
Tea dyed lace was tied on two sides and attached to a Tim Holtz Ornate Plate using Bakers Twine.  I then glued the roses on and held them for seemed like an eternity until they were set.  Pearl Trim and Charms were then added to finish it.  It is always such a good feeling when my   "Rubber Ducky" projects are finished.  The finished projects are always something that would not ever be designed except for our great challenges.

Nicole is planning to display her jewelry pieces on an antique cookie sheet...which she will display in her new business in Pueblo, Colorado, called Mernie's Spices, Oils & Vinegars.  If you happen to find yourself in Pueblo, please stop and say hello to her.  She is a wonderful friend of mine.

Serene Silhouettes & Fancy Fan Embossing Folder

The new item that falls into an ASIAN THEME in our new Stampin' Up! catalog is a wonderful new "Fancy Fan"  Embossing Folder!!!!  The folder is in a landscape format but is easily turned   sideways to use for a portrait format card.  This is my June Stamp-A-Stack card and I also made lots of these for my Control Freak New Catalog Swap and my Upscale Swap.  My favorite new catalog stamp set is "Serene Silhouettes" so had to use both of these items first.  Our Stamp-A-Stack  was super busy.  I had the ladies use clear embossing powder on the flowers. They also brayered white craft ink onto the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder and then ran the background piece of Rose Red through the Big Shot.  Luckily, I die cut all the butterflies ahead of time.  The card was a hit.  Yeahhhhh!!!!   :)
Stamps:  Serene Silhouettes
CS:  Regal Rose, Basic Black, Rose Red, Whisper White
Ink:  Basic Black Classic Pad, Whisper White Craft Pad

Accessories:  Fancy Fan Embossing Folder [pg 189], Beautiful Wings Embosslit [pg 188]
